a poem

TO BE OR NOT TO BE
THAT “IS” THE QUESTION

In the moment we were there
The world changed
Just a little bit
Or did it
The more things change
The more they are the same
People still die
Murder or indifference
It matters not
Think about it
I do, all the time
That unless we change
From deep within ourselves
Remove the vicious animal
Become the caring people
That we think we are now
Why, did you think
That you or I were already there
Not a chance
It is that kind of thinking, though
That helps to condemn us
To our animal past
I for one, and more all the time
Wish to change this world
To something beautiful
To something that will last
Beyond the hundred years
We might be in danger of now
It is possible
But people, governments
And oh yes, business
Must stop and think
About what they are doing
To their lives and our world
Or else.

MY POEM IS YOUR POEM
D.C. November 20, 2008

Yes, the poems seem small, but what
You thought your own so big
Guess what, we all sang our own song
We are all small
Only as big as the good we can do
No, hate and fear don’t count
Why??? Why you say??? Why
Look around you with opened eyes
Dare you now say ‘why’
Within the small may be hidden….greatness
Even the smallest part of life
Our life, yours and mine
Counts by the ripples it makes
The ripples become the wave
The wave is life
Do we crash and disappear
Or do we lessen our loads
Sail into a future where we can smile
Where a song blesses each day.
ETERNITY IS FOREVER
November 20, 2008

The joke is on us all
This life
For we live to another’s song
We die to another’s song
The song grows dim
Even for those shadows
Who make up the songs
For their own amusement
You felt you’d live forever, hah
We need your guidance for what
Anyone can raise a bow, a gun
To kill or be killed is your game
I will play in it no more
A curse to those who aim our lives
To destruction
May you know eternally
What we have known in this life
Then you will have regrets
But eternity is forever.
LIVE
D.C. November 20, 2008

I will live til I die
But die is closer
So the time I didn’t have
To save an older me
From family pain
I did not see
Could not see, but you must
The world we know
Is dying now, the end
Unless love be the center
About which we build our lives
Love may be a silly word
But then, hate must be a joke
For in the end, all die
It is time for all
To live.
