How nieve we were
Growing up in an age of tv
Where everything is ok
Turns out good every time
All the books seem to echo it too
The heroes of the day as well
Be it the Lone Ranger
Or Roy Rogers
Hey, the good guy always wins
Right?????
But then we get a reality check
We learn the hard way
That life can knock us down
Can even kick us there
More, oooh yes
And still more again
Children are supposed to be angels
I suppose
I did
But the facts of life
Soon set me straight
They are at least as human as I was
Hopefully they make fewer mistakes
Although that seems slim
While I was involved in their lives
Maturity
Why that's when our heroes are gone
Life is going to win
Right or wrong is a toss of the dice
Snake-eyes...........I lost.
