INNER GROWTH
Attention: we were all aboriginals

My sight was changing
My mind was changing
Wah, indeed, my whole world
Changing rapidly
For I no longer saw
As I had seen before
I no longer felt
As I had before
I knew that a new depth
Had been added to me
When I met groups of people
A herd of deer
A field of flowers
I no longer saw the group
No longer saw the field
I saw each piece
That makes up that whole
I saw that
It was the little differences
That made the picture
In all that the world was
And indeed, what it could be
It allowed subtle change
To grow from within the whole
If men the world around
Could only begin to see
How important
We all are to each other
And to the future
Of this, our mother
My friends of all races
Saw the changes in me
Sensed that I had become
More than I had been
Many
Caught up in their lives
Caught
In the traps of the world

Could not understand
What was happening to me
Some went by other paths
Afraid
That what I had
Might be catching
As if it were
A disease
Perhaps
They are content
In their walled spaces
Safe at least for the moment
Ah well
And I wish them well
Their lives
Will all enfold
As they were meant to
The great Giver of Life
Does not abandon
His children
Even
When they are
Foolish.
