Why did it not occur to me
Many years ago
Why do’s and don’t’s
Are repeated at least one set in 10 years
Maybe less
Those shadowy young people
Were children, said the elder generation
Look at those old fogeys
Cry out the young
Why can’t they simply see
But the shadows are long
They are the shadows
Of yesterday and the morrow
The dream of what was
The hope of tomorrow
Yet they seem not to meet
To join and paint
The complete picture to the world
Where did you go
Shadow of the young,oh my
I have become that shadow of the older.
