WE ALL KNOW

Each day is a new day
If we just let it be so
If we let yesterdays go
Begin again with the dawn

Tainted eyes see the grime
Left over from yesterday
And then sit and say, “oh my”
Eyes blinded to all that is

The true word ever says
In the beginning was God
So smile at the rising sun
Give thanks for the bright new dawn

As morning air is so sweet
With a little taste of dew
So is our Everyday so
If the past, we just let go

Those afraid of a change
Will yet try to put you down
So sympathize with their loss
But stay open to all that is

The flower that just bloomed
Mating robins in the trees
Nature’s new blanket of green
Buzzing insect harmony

Yes, the world can be great
If we just let it be so
If we let yesterdays go
Begin again with the dawn

Tainted eyes see the crimes
Of youth in their rebellion
Yet fail to see open minds
To all that is wrong today

Or hear their anguish so
At the wrongs that burn them deep
As they seek to change what is
To all that it could be
Oh, if we hope to live
Our world continue to be
Then give credit to their screams
So they can live out their dreams

Not they, but we must fight
To yet start to put things right
They can finish what we start
If we but give them the tools

Not one alone, but all
Must begin to put things right
So tomorrow’s not the same
As the grime which was yesterday.
